Coach Jerry Olson

Coach Jerry Olson began coaching the Bison Softball team in 1999. Each year he has tried to improve the overall play of the girls. His teams have compiled an over-all record of 68-61.

A native of Great Falls and a 1977 graduate of  C.M. Russell High School, Coach Olson played college baseball at North Idaho College in Couer d' Alene and Eastern Washington University in Cheney. While in college he got his first experience with the sport of fastpitch softball. "I liked the speed of the game and the competition it provided," he says. "It was very similiar to baseball and it provided a challenge." Before taking over the Bison program, Coach Olson was an assistant at C.M. Russell High School under the leadership of Terry Graham. During his 3 years there he helped CMR win the first 2 of 5 consecutive State Titles.

Coach Olson's philosophy is simple. "Work Hard, Work Smart and Have Fun."

"I believe that the athletes should look forward to practice because that is the best opportunity to improve themselves and prepare for games. Improvement everyday is important. An athlete should be working to improve some aspect of their game everytime they step onto a field. I expect a lot from myself, my coaches and my players...I find that you usually get what you expect."
