REQUIREMENTS

DRIVER’S EDUCATION CLASSROOM AND BTW REQUIREMENTS

INSTRUCTOR: MR. OLSON

CLASSROOM MANNERS:

            *You are expected to be in your seat by 3:30 pm or 8:30 am for summer sessions.

*Do not enter the building any earlier than 5 minutes before class during the summer unless there is bad weather.

*No Food or Drink in classrooms. Water bottles may be acceptable.

*Any classroom disruptions or rude behavior are grounds for dismissal on that day and may be counted as a full day absence regardless of how much class time is left.

*Cell phones are to be turned off in the classroom and the vehicle.

ABSENCES

*There are NO excused absences! All absences will require make-up work that is time equivalent.

*A total of 4 1/2 hours is the total amount of time that can be missed from the classroom due to tardies or absences. Any more missed time will result in being dismissed from the program.

*A 5 page outline (minimum) will be required for an absence.

*Make up work must be turned in 3 days following your return to class or your driving time may be cancelled.

*Failure to show up for 3 scheduled drives will result in dismissal from Driver’s Education.

*Each “NO SHOW” will carry a penalty of 1 1/2 hours of observation.

CLASSROOM REQUIREMENTS

            *Chapter quiz scores of 80% or better is passing (20 out of 25).

*Quiz scores below 80% will have to complete on the Chapter we just tested on.

            *Missed quiz’s need to be made up

            *All make-up work must be completed in order to pass the course.

*A cumulative score of 80% or better is needed to pass this course. This includes the final test.

NOTEBOOK

            *A notebook is required for this class. A 3 ring binder is recommended.

            *Notebooks need to contain the following:

1.      At least 15 pages of notes

2.      All handouts and worksheets

DRIVING

            *No food or beverages are allowed in the car

            *No sound devices allowed such as Walkmans, Ipods, etc.

            *NO SLEEPING! You need to be awake when observing.

*You must remain attentive and respectful to the driver and occupants of the vehicle.

*Showing up under the influence of drugs or alcohol is grounds for dismissal from the program.

TIME REQUIREMENTS

            *Student must have 25 contact days each. Absences do not count as contact.

            *All 60 hours must be accounted for!

                        1. 42 hours in the classroom

                        2. 6 hours of driving

3.12 hours of observation.

 

 

IN ORDER TO PASS DRIVER’S  TRAINING, YOU MUST PASS BOTH THE CLASSROOM AND THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE.
